Trinbago Christmas!

The count down to Christmas is on... I love Christmas in the Caribbean definitely is the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas traditions in Trinidad and Tobago are very enjoyable. From the preparations i.e. house cleaning, painting, decorating etc., to the delicious food and drink, sorrel, pastelles, ham, black cake fruit cake!!! My family always kept the tradition alive and waited to hang curtains and bake on Christmas Eve.

The true meaning of Christmas is associated with Christ and celebrates his birth and coming to save the world from darkness. As a Christian, I ensure not only to attend church but I try my best to give God thanks for sending his Son Jesus Christ to die on that cross on Calvary hill for my sins and the sins of this world.

Business have been trying to remove Christ from the center and replace him with, Santa Clause, Christmas trees and everything else but I would like you to stop and think about it this Christmas and take some time to acknowledge the reason for the season.

Bring Your Own Device BYOD

What is BYOD?

Devices in the work place are increasing in number, and more and more businesses are allowing their employees to bring their mobile devices and have the IT department set it up with email and access to the company IT network. This is known as Bring Your Own Device or BOYD. This trend is being adopted a lot more in emerging markets.

To some it may seem as disruptive, but with daily advancements in technology and employee enthusiasm for new gadgets, this trend is on the rise, some companies have gone so far as to introduce a BYOD Policy to ensure security. This is definitely important to ensure that employees know their responsibilities, and that rules and guidelines are clear.

How to Manage My Money

Steps to Good Money Management

There are quite a number of things to take into consideration when it comes to managing your money. According to http://www.balancetrack.org/moneymanagement money management is the process of knowing where you are spending your money today and having a well-thought-out plan in place for where you want to go in the future.
Based on this I have compiled com step that can help you get well on your way of managing your money.

 1.  Pay your bills on time!!! – If you’re paid monthly or fortnightly then you need to set aside the money to pay those bills before you commit to anything else, and avoid late fees and penalties.

   2.  Save save save!!! – Some people say pay yourself first! It very important to save money so that it becomes easier for you to access the luxuries in life.

    3.  Stop Swiping for everything! – The more you use your card the less you control your money. Try to carry the exact amount of cash you want to spend and leave the cards at home.

   4.  Follow a monthly Budget – Compile a savings / spending plan to help you keep track of your money. Budgeting is an effective money management tool.

5.  Check your Bank Statements on a Regular

  6.  Set up and Emergency Savings – there is no certainty in life or career, so putting aside a little every month for unforeseen circumstances or for that rainy day is very wise.

7.  Buy Used Stuff – this will definitely help you to save a lot of money.

   8.  Pay More Than the Minimum on Credit Cards – This will ensure that you don’t end up overpaying fees if you miss a payment.

   9.  Earn Extra  - Write a blog, sell jewelry, make cakes do something in your spare time that can earn you a little more cash.

Trinidad & Tobago's 1st GOLD MEDAL since 1976

Trinidad and Tobago residents (including me) were very jubilant after we learnt that Keshorn Walcott won GOLD for us at the London Olympic Games 2012. This was our second gold medal in 36years, and it could not have come at a better time, because mare weeks later we would celebrate our 50 Independence. I am so happy to have been witness to this extraordinary event and wish Keshorn and all our sporting representatives all the best as they continue to fly the fay of Trinidand and Tobago high.
